A Sculptural and Cost-Effective Design
The vision for this home was to create an architecturally significant residence while maintaining cost efficiency. Given that the client—a skilled and creative builder—could manage labor costs, we embraced a design that was both distinctive in form and technically complex to construct.
The result is an extraordinary home that begins as a single-storey structure, with a sweeping curved north wall that rises into a second storey, housing the parents’ retreat. Constructed using traditional materials to keep costs manageable, the combination of the curved façade and ascending fascia presented unique construction challenges—ones that ultimately contributed to the home’s bespoke character.
The final design successfully meets the brief, delivering a striking, one-of-a-kind residence that balances artistry with practicality.
